Formerly just “Italo”, but after a renovation upgrade and an impressive menu re-design, Italo Trattoria is now a nice date-night spot in Xuhui. Dim lighting, jovial retro wall hangings, and an attentive staff make this a real casual but elevated Italian option in the Fumin Lu, Xinle Lu triangle. Chef Lucky Lasagne handles the creations coming out of the kitchen, which are rustic, but full of strong flavors. One of the real nice things about Italo Trattoria, is you can call ahead and ask for custom dishes. Ask for a vegan offering for example, and you’ll get something off-menu and entirely original that isn’t merely an after thought. Perfect place for whoever is looking to enjoy a lively brunch. an elegant dinner, or unwind over a few cocktails.
